Welcome to the only site that will teach you counterpoint using the Handbook of Tonal Counterpoint
by George Heussenstamm. This wonderful manual of compositional craft will take you through 18th Century counterpoint in the style of Johann Sebastian Bach. It will begin with the species method and take you all the way through writing three-voice fugues.
Of course, the best way to study is with a real live teacher, but this resource is a great way to begin to understand the style. Just download a chapter at a time, listen to the examples, and do the exercises. Then write your own examples and away you go. Have fun!
